Curators Thoughts
Before there were ever datejusts, there were oysterdates and no-date oysters. A simple, manually wound, 34mm Rolex. Totally different from any 34mm omega or Patek, the 34mm Rolexs wear bigger and nicer on the wrist. Nothing wrong with owning a more affordable and smaller Rolex, that’s what makes these so great.
This specific example has a gorgeous grey dial with silver font. In certain light, this 6694 resembles a ROlex Datejust 'Ghost' Dial.
Condition Analysis
The dial is in amazing condition with very little wear around the tritium pips. The tritium lume is all intact and has gorgeous patina. The lugs are nice and thick, and still sharp. There is wear throughout the case and bracelet but nothing major. The bracelet itself is a folded link so there is some stretch and a link or two have soft dents. The buckle itself has a small dent that is visible. The serial is a 3.1 Mil and the bracelet has a '19' date code.
