This Porsche Design chronograph represents one of the more interesting executions of the Valjoux 7750 platform. While many of the Orfina Porsche Designs feature the Lemania cal. 5100, these rare 7750s are a great find and feature a slimmer case profile. The example shown here features the rare 1-mile inner tachymeter scale, a configuration explicitly produced for the US market and seen far less frequently than the kilometer variants. The design language is clean, functional, and unmistakably tied to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s philosophy of reduction and purpose.
These watches were built to be worn hard and often show heavy use, which makes finding an unpolished example with its original finish still intact especially uncommon. The matte black dial with tritium plots, red central chronograph hand, and full day-date display captures the practical design ethos Porsche Design was known for through the 1980s.
