1989 Rolex Datejust 16234 Matte Blue

Curator Thoughts
The Rolex Datejust is an icon and has seen hundreds if not thousands of variations and different designs. The reference 16220 was Rolex's idea of dressing down the Datejust. With an engine turn bezel and oyster bracelet,  the Datejust gets a bit more sporty. This one is even cooler because of its dial. One of the rarest dial configurations we've had in the shop! Blue Rolex dials are fairly uncommon but matte blue dials are pretty rare and even rarer for this reference, the 16234.

Condition Analysis
The watch is in great condition for its age. Has marks and wear throughout the white gold bezel corresponding with its 30 year age. The case has been lightly polished in the past but the lugs are still nice and sharp. The very rare matte blue dial is in amazing condition with just one spot of wear right next to the six o'clock hour marker. The case and clasp code both date back to 1989.
