The Rolex Datejust 16233 is one of the defining references of the five-digit Rolex era. Produced throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, it represented the transition into a more modern Datejust while still retaining many of the proportions and characteristics collectors associate with vintage Rolex. The reference introduced the sapphire crystal and caliber 3135 movement while maintaining the slimmer case profile and elegant proportions that made earlier Datejust references so wearable.

Over time, the original sunburst blue finish has transformed into a deep grey tropical tone that shifts depending on lighting conditions.
