c. 1942 Patek Philippe Rectangular Sector Dial & Wenger Case (Ref. 1443)

$9,900.00

Worth The Read

The reference 1443 is one of those hidden gems from the Patek Philippe Archives, just as rare and beautiful as some of the most collectible vintage Patek Philippe watches. The reference 1443 has some key features that make it a gem for vintage Patek collectors—first, the case: A tank-style case measuring 38x21mm. The most important part is the casemaker. An engraved Key and the number 1 confirm this is a Mark One Wenger case. One of, if not, the most crucial case maker for Patek Philippe. Housed inside the Wenger case is a mechanical caliber 9-90, a beautifully finished, elongated octagon in-house movement. Then the dial, if this were in a more sought-after reference, the value would be more than tripled. An original sector dial with black raised enamel. The dial features applied markers and numerals at 3, 9, and 12.

Specifications

Reference: 1443

Model: Rectangular Dress Watch

Movement: Manual

Year: We dated it to circa 1942 because of the movement serial being slightly less than a 1945 serial by 2-3 years.

Contents: Watch Only

Case: The case measures 38 x 21, and the crystal features the period-correct curved tops typically found on vintage rectangular Patek watches from this era. The case remains sharp, with deep hallmarks. You can still see the original finish from the 1940s.

Dial: The dial is in excellent condition. Near perfect, other than a few signs of age. The dial is untouched and all original with raised black enamel and a two-tone finished sector dial. **The dial looks distorted in thew phots because of the curved crystal**

Strap & Buckle:  Non-original strap and buckle.
