Cartier Tank Extra Plat Edmond Jaeger Case - Cartier Service & Warranty

$12,600.00

Being offered is a very special Cartier tank. First, the Edmond Jaeger case was produced in very few numbers during the transitional period of Cartier's consolidation. Most Extra Plat cases would feature 4 screws on the case back or sides to open the case. This example is a snap caseback, which is very rare. Housed inside is also a rare movement. The JLC Caliber P383 was completely overhauled by Cartier last year and warranted. The dial is pretty special. While the original dial was worn to no return, Cartier's Service Center did something special. They took the original dial font and style from this era of the Extra Plat and reproduced it for the watch. The font and size of Cartier and Paris on the dial are a one-to-one of the original dial. The hands, case, and movement are all original to the watch. These snap caseback Tanks are very hard to come by. This example is beautiful, including the $2,600 service done by Cartier and a 2-year warranty from them.

The Tank - Louis Cartier, the founder of the Cartier Tank, invented the iconic model in 1917, paying homage to the Renault FT-17, a French tank used during World War I. The Tank's design was inspired by Renault's modern lines and was gifted to U.S. General John Pershing in 1918. The Tank debuted in 1919 and gained popularity in the early 1920s. The brand has a variety of modern-day models, including the Tank Anglaise, which features a case-incorporated winding mechanism and quartz movement; the Tank Louis Cartier, which features rounded lugs and a skeleton case; the Tank Americaine, which is an elongated version of the classic, the Tank Francaise, which is the sportiest, the Tank MC, which is the most masculine, and the Tank Solo, which showcases the best of the model. The Cartier Tank has been in production longer than most watches, making it an iconic masterpiece that combines classic design with modern principles.
