The Patek Calatrava, introduced in 1938, is the oversized brother of the ref 96, launched in 1932. Despite its popularity, the ref 570 was enlarged to 35.5 mm, making it a larger dress watch in the 1930s. The ref 570 follows the Bauhaus adage that form should follow function, with elegantly curved lugs, polished flat bezel, and simple crown with raised Calatrava cross. The opaline dial features applied dots at the minute track and faceted 18k white gold hour markers, complemented by 18k white gold dauphine hands. The ref 570 was offered in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum, and steel from 1938 until 1972.
