1962 Rolex Explorer Tropical Gilt Exclamation Point Dial (Ref. 1016)

4-digit Rolex could be pretty intimidating. There's much to learn, especially with a watch like this Explorer 1. We are looking at an early 1016 (First introduced in 1959) from 1962 with a factory gilt dial. The dial is pretty intricate when it comes to sought-after vintage Rolex. The dial is tropical, with a beautiful shade of brown and amazing texture. It is also an exclamation dial, which means there is a lume plot under the 6 o'clock. This is seen with only 1962 and 1963 examples. These exclamation dials also feature a chapter ring minute marker. That means the minute markers are all connected with a solid ring around the dial. With all these features plus the long coronet logo, that makes this a Mark 3 Gilt dial.
