- Specifications
- Worth A Read
Movement: A manual wound caliber 1003 that has been skeletonized and hand engraved. The movement is in fantastic condition and the finishing is top-notch. Such a well-put-together skeleton movement.
Year: Circa 1970s
Contents: Watch Only
Case: The 30mm case looks to be in unpolished condition with deep engravings and hallmarks. The watch features a true skeletonized movement with an open caseback.
Dial: This time we aren't talking about the dial because there isn't one. What we can say is the handfinishing on the movement is so good.
Strap & Buckle: The watch is paired with our own Italian Suede strap and gold tone buckle.
The show stopper when it comes to the Reference 33014 is the movement so lets dig a bit deeper into the Caliber 1003. It's important to note that for this reference not all the movements are the same. You have what I would say are three tiers of finishes of the movement. The first tier is a simple caliber 1003 that has been converted into a skeletonized movement and features no hand Engravings. These early examples are seen in a yellow gold case with a steel movement. The next level up is this specific example which is a fully skeletonized and hand-engraved movement but no Vacheron logo engraved into the barrel at 1:00 Then the majority of them were fully skeletonized like this with a hand-engraved Vacheron Constantine logo for the barrel. We believe the different variations are seen from the early start of production to full production of the reference the earlier ones were a simple skeleton movement then they stepped it up with a hand engraved movement and then when the watch went into full production you found the fully engraved caliber 1003 which is what you can often find with this reference it's the most common out of the three.
